Watch design

FOR JACOB ZECH

The challenge

Inspired by the drawings from Leonardo da Vinci, clockmaker Jacob Zech is to be credited for inventing the fusee in the year 1525, which is part that is the foundation for mechanical watches.

The Jacob Zech brand specializes in contemporary timepieces that exude a timeless charm. I have designed a watch that seamlessly blends elements of both the past and present.

Origin

The brand draws its inspiration from Jacob Zech, a renowned clockmaker who worked on the famous Prague astronomical clock – a must-see for many tourists visiting Prague. Even today, the clock remains a fascinating attraction, and it is in honor of Zech’s legacy that the brand is named.

Combination

This watch incorporates various elements of the original Prague clock, such as the dials which inspire both the watch’s face and caseback. The design is a tribute to the two dials of the historic clock, adding a touch of timeless elegance to the timepiece.

The result

The design of the original clock has been skillfully modified and blended with a modern case and movement, resulting in a stunning wristwatch that beautifully captures the essence of the past. Presented in an elegant box, this timepiece boasts a charming vintage spirit that is sure to impress.
